Working in Higher Education at Nyack College was extremely rewarding. I enjoyed being part of the Graduate Admissions team which was dedicated to helping prospective students achieve their dreams. Nyack is a small liberal arts school. This meant that my role was multifaceted. My daily activities included marketing, recruiting, counseling, enrollment and data analysis. During my tenure in Graduate Admissions I increased enrollment by 18-62% over several semesters.

I conducted recruiting events and met with prospective students one on one. I organized, promoted events and created promotional materials for events (see invite above). Connecting with students using various touch points allowed me to build relationships and assess their interest in our programs. I made lots of phone calls, sent lots of emails, texts, and sent mailings to students in order to connect with them. I wanted to make sure that they had all the information they needed to make their decision.

Another aspect of my job was to collaborate with faculty to improve the admissions process. I gathered data (see the small sample above) on all of our competitors and compared it to similar programs at Nyack College. I then had a discussion with the Admissions Director and faculty members about what might need to change in order for our programs to remain competitive. This resulted in several changes in the Admissions process. These changes streamlined the admissions process by 20% and increased the number of completed applications.
